M is not a regrouper... the chicken scratch proved to be confusing for her and was frustrating her more than helping her so since we're already out of the traditional box, I learned how to do it a different way and it showed her - it clicked and she's off and running with it... She is obviously not as excited by the new method as I am, but she is getting it where she was really struggling with regrouping.
Our Method??
My parents were taught in the UK in the 40's and 50's. Mum has forever remembered the method of "Borrowing and Paying Back." She tried to teach me once years after I had figured out the regrouping method and it just never stuck for me but apparently it did for my sis. Well I've learned it now... its cool... while I fall back on my old way of chicken scratch... this borrowing and paying back method makes faster work for M - so its a hit!

Happy New Year 2009
I've been absent from here for a while... not really much on the homeschool front to post about. We've been lax... and we haven't really been doing much fun stuff - just focusing on getting through most of our work so we can do more fun and interesting stuff.
Hopefully with the new year we'll have more adventures and fun!
