Product Review
I've been horribly lax about posting on this and my other blog lately. Life tends to be busy when you have 3 kids, move houses and have too many hobbies to stay on top of! LOL!
Today's post is a product review.
Well middle kid (now known as mDD) has been struggling in 3rd grade with Multiplication for the last little while. We have been doing Life of Fred which she loves and all is going well there, but when we hit the multiplication we reached a pause. I'm not sure if it was my need for her to memorize the multiplication facts that I never memorized when I was a kid, or if it was her struggling with the ideas that prompted this pause. Or maybe a combination of both!
Anyway, enter Times Tales. On one of the facebook groups I joined a while ago, someone mentioned using this with great success so I decided to check it out! Low and behold I'm now here to attest to the fact that we are also having great success with it!
I love that it teaches the multiplication concepts using a story that seems totally unrelated to math, making it friendly for the Literature strong individual, but still driving in the idea of memorizing by the short stories and math concept.
We did the video download, mostly because the book wasn't available online really quickly. mDD complains that the voice of the teacher is a little bit annoying but I swear in 25 minutes she had all of these (3x6, 4x6, 3x7, 4x7,3x8, 4x8, 3x9, 4x9) memorized and won't be forgetting them anytime soon!
What was also cool, yDD (5) was also able to tell me most of the stories and she was only watching over our shoulder and hasn't done any addition yet!
